Easter and Spring Art and Activities

Posted: 19th March 2024

Spring is most definitely in bloom here at Vita et Pax Preparatory School in Enfield. The sun has started to shine and we looking forward to Easter. We are preparing for Easter in this Lenten period.

EYFS have been creating some beautiful pieces of art work exploring the theme of Easter. They have been learning that Easter is a very special time when we celebrate Jesus coming back to life. They have created images  that symbolise new life and how spring brings new life to the world. Easter reminds us that there’s always hope and new beginnings.

Throughout the school we have been learning about Lent and Easter in our R.E lessons.

In our Pre-prep classes they are recognising why we celebrate Easter and looking at symbols of Easter and Spring.

Our Prep School classes are looking in more detail at the significance of Easter and making links between The Last Supper and what happens during a catholic mass. For Christians around the globe, Easter is more than just a holiday; it is a pivotal time of spiritual reflection and renewal.  The beautiful colours of Easter are echoed in the church’s liturgical colours. Lent is full of purple and violet, of course, the colours of penance and sacrifice. The fourth Sunday of Lent, surprises us with beautiful rose, the colour of our joyful anticipation. Easter Sunday brings us pure white vestments, sometimes adorned with gold, the colours of celebration, victory, joy and rebirth.

Children have been learning about Easter Symbols and creating some beautiful pieces of Artwork.

The Cross Christian tradition Symbol of Christ’s sacrifice, redemption, and life
The Lamb Jewish Passover tradition / Christian tradition Symbol of Christ as the innocent sacrifice for sins
The Easter Lily Christian tradition Symbol of purity, hope, renewal, and triumph over darkness
The Palm Branch Jewish Tradition / Christian tradition Symbol of Christ’s triumphal entry into Jerusalem and victory over sin and death

We were very fortunate to have our PFA come into school here in Southgate and play some Easter games, we had an Easter Egg Hunt, Obstacle Course and delicious treats provided for us. All the children had a wonderful time and even got an Easter Egg to bring home with them.
